Perhaps its greatest shortcoming is the nearly complete failure to discuss the outer planet and solar probes (Pioneers 10 & 11, Voyagers 1 & 2, ISEE/ICE, Galileo, Ulysses, etc.) launched during the period addressed by the book. It is also very short on footnoting many facts
