I don't have a science background and I found about half the book difficult and the other half unreadable. There are many better choices out there to explain the latest physics to those of us "scientifically and technically challenged".

This articles in this work represent, as in the other volumes in the "Masters" series, a special selection by the author of essays written for a more general non-scientist audience. The topics span the beginning of time until its end, and encompass the enigma of the evolution of large-scale structure culminating in the formation of the galaxies. It is intended for the educated lay reader.
