Although the first couple chapters describe the spacecraft and deal briefly with the administrative headaches and unfortunate events that led to the greatly delayed launch, the bulk of the book literally follows the robot around as it makes its 6-year interplanetary journey

Focusing on the Galileo mission, this book tracks the remarkable spacecraft gestation, the ordeal of its long haul out to Jupiter, and its 5 year long exploration of the Jovian system.
