The author does a fairly good job explaining basics especially those concerning telescopes. But he seems to draw a line at eyepieces giving that topic far to little coverage. Other important acceseries are barely mentioned.

Both beginning/novice amateur astronomers (at the level of Astronomy and Night Sky magazine readers), as well as more advanced amateur astronomers (level of Sky and Telescope) will find this book invaluable and fascinating.
